Things are pretty quiet right now with gamers blasting away at Mass Effect 3 and waiting for a Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 release. Here is what’s happening in your neck of the woods…
gPotato is shutting down Prius Online and Luna Online which comes at the surprise of uh nobody. I review Prius during Beta and knew then that it would go dark sooner rather than later. I’m not a hater so I have no vendetta for the title but it was easy to see the lack of quality, bad AI and cheap Asian MMO feel would eventually be it’s own downfall. Luna like many MMO titles simply got lost in the crowd. Devs there is way too much competition to let loose with a subpar product. These aren’t the first and won’t be the last casualties we see this year in the MMO Wars. My little prediction is that Guild Wars 2 is going to apply a tremendous amount of pressure on the free to play market and even on titles hoping to rebound such as FFXIV.
We may be one step closer to a Diablo 3 release with Blizzard saying that they are cutting pvp from the launch with intentions of adding it back to the game once they have worked out all the bugs. Sounds good to me. The Diablo franchise was not built on pvp so this move is a no brainer. With being connected to Blizzard infrastructure they can fine tune it and push it out very easily. I’m just glad they are going back to their roots and working on the core gameplay.
Guild Wars 2 announced their goodies planned for the Collector’s Edition. Rytlock figure, artbook, beta, early access and more await the early adopters.
